Vijayawada, Nov 7: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the UIM F1H2O World Championship of International series of single-seater inshore circuit powerboat racing at the river Krishna at Punnami ghat here on November 16.
Official sources here on Wednesday said that highly competitive, intensely challenging, risky and entertaining, the F1H2O World Championship is regarded as one of the most spectacular and exciting sports in the world.
Over the last 34 years the sport has played out 272 Grand Prix in 32 countries across five continents, 13 drivers have captured the World title, 47 becoming members of the illustrious Grand Prix winners club.
The 2018 F1H2O championship has 9 teams and 19 drivers with 7 races spread across the globe. The first 4 races of the championship were held in Potugal, UK, France and China respectively. The 4th round in China has witnessed the first participation from Team Amaravati. The 5th round is scheduled in Vijayawada and the cities of Abu Dhabi, UAE and Sharjah, UAE will host the 6th and 7th rounds respectively.
The event scheduled from November 16-18 will have inauguration and practice rounds on the 16th, qualification rounds on the 17th and the final race on the November 18. The event has two formats of racing viz F1 and F4.
F1 is the adrenaline filled main event for which the teams compete and F4 is the format for nurturing young talent in the sport of Powerboat Racing. (UNI)
