Shillong, Nov 3: Meghalaya defeated Arunachal Pradesh by seven wickets in their opener of the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament in first round on third day of the four-day match here at MCA Cricket Ground, Polo Ground on Saturday.
Meghalaya chased down 157 runs target with ease. Punit Bisht (66) and Yogesh Nagar (55) stitched together 104 unbeatable partnership for the forth wicket, taking their team home. Earlier, Arunanchal Pradesh bundled out for 131 runs. Abhay Negi and Gurinder Singh bagged four wickets each.
Meghalaya, who chose to Field, bowled out Arunanchal Pradesh in match's first innings for 166. In reply, Meghalaya scored 141 runs, giving a paltry lead of 25 runs to Arunanchal Pradesh. Meghalaya's captain J J Lamare was named Man of the Match for his batting performance- he scored 70 and 29 runs. (UNI)
