Jakarta, Oct 9: Ekta Bhyan and Manish Narwal clinched gold in their respective categories of women's club throw and men's 10m Air Pistol in the ongoing Asian Para Games here on Tuesday.
The Haryana girl produced her best throw in her fourth attempt with 16.02m to win the F32/51 event ahead of UAE's Alkaabi Thekra, who threw 15.75m.
She took to twitter to share her joy, "Gold for India, Haryana's first & 2nd Indian woman to win Gold medal in Para Atheletics at Asian Para games, feeling so proud, thanku everyone," she tweeted.
India's total medal tally has touched 23 with 5 golds, 6 silvers and 12 bronze. China is leading the medal tally with a total of 109 medals.
India also secured three bronze medals on Tuesday courtesy Jayanti Behera, Anandan Gunasekaran and Monu Ghangas.
Ghangas finished third in the men's shot put F11, which covers vision impairment, and Gunasekaran in men's 200m T44/62/64 class, which deals with impairment in foot, ankle and/or lower leg but the athletes compete without prothesis.
The Odisha-based para athlete bagged the bronze in the women's 200m T45/46/47 event which is for athletes with limb impairment.(UNI)
