Asian Games: Indian women’s hockey gold ends in drought

Jakarta, Aug 31: Indian women's hockey dream of winning gold medal after 36 years ended after they lost to Japan in finals of the Asian Games here on Friday.

Two goals from two penalty corners give Japan the lead after Neha Goyal's equaliser for India. India lost to Japan 1-2 and had to settle with silver. India had last won gold in 1982 Asian Games.

With this win, Japan have directly qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The women's hockey team earned silver after 20 years at the Games.
