Jakarta, Aug 29: Indian boxer Amit Panghal (49kg) entered into the semi-finals at the Asian games held here on Wednesday.
He defeated North Korean Jang Ryong Kim 5-0 in the men's 49kg flyweight category. With this victory, Panghal has assured India of another bronze medal.
Panghal countered much quicker than Kim in round 2. But the DPR Korea boxer was preparing himself for a full onslaught in round 3.
Though, Kim landed a few solid blows on Amit in round 1, but the Indian in the blue corner countered Kim's aggression with a flurry of punches. Panghal also landed a left hook on the North Korean’s jaw.
That was absolute domination from Panghal. He was just too quick for the young Korean boxer and played a very tactical match. Amit's frequent aggression and punches on the Korean's face earned him valuable points. UNI
