India's P V Sindhu entered the semi final of the World Championship being held at Nanjing, China by beating Japan's Nozomi Okuhara. She assured herself of a medal as she sailed past the Jap in a 58 minute match scoring 21-17, 21-19.
Now Sindhu, World No.3, faces Japan's Akane Yamaguchi, World No.2 on Saturday Aug 4.
However the other Indian players disappointed. With Kidambi Srikanth already out, all eyes were on Sai Praneeth in the men's quarter finals. But he went down tamely to Japan's Kento Momota 12-21, 12-21 in just 39 minutes.
Saina Nehwal too went down to Spain's Carolina Marin in a lop sided match 21-6, 21-11.
In the mixed doubles too the Indian team of Ashwini Ponappa and Satwiksairaj lost to China's Zhen Siwei and Huang Yaqiong.
