Indian star shuttler Saina Nehwal edged out world no 4 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in straight sets 21-16, 21-19 to enter quarter-final of the BWF Badminton World Championship while fellow countryman and world no 6 Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the tournament.
The former world no 1 Saina thrashed her Thai opponent Ratchanok 21-16, 21-19 ending the game in 47 minutes, but Srikanth lost to unseeded Daren Liew of Malaysia 18-21, 18-21 a game that ended in 41 minutes.
With this win Saina has reached the quarter-finals of the BWF Badminton World Championships for 8th consecutive times. In the mixed doubles Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa also emerged victorious inching closer to medal against Malaysian pair Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai 20-22 21-14 21-6.
