Angelique Kerber beat seven-time champion Serena Williams to win her first Wimbledon title (6-3, 6-3). With this victory, Kerber also broke the Serena's comeback dream as a mum.
Kerber dominated from the beginning of the game. Though Serena has been the favourite, Kerber's baseline defence and return game helped her to seal a rather easy victory against 23-time Grand Slam champion. Serena also made a lot of errors in the game, indicating her weaknesses due to the long hiatus from the game.
"It is a dream come true," said Kerber, who is the first German woman to win the title since Steffi Graf in 1996.
