AFI admits its mistake over Hima Das’ English skills

Athletic Federation of India (AFI) who faced a wrath for commenting over Hima Das English speaking skills on twitter has admitted its mistake.

AFI had posted a video on their Twitter account after Hima's semi-final at the IAAF World Under-20 Championships in Finland two days back.

"#HimaDas speaking to media after her SF win at #iaaftampere2018 @iaaforg Not so fluent in English but she gave her best there too. So proud of u #HimaDas Keep rocking & yeah, try ur best in final!" AFI had captioned the video. Following which, there was a widespread criticism on social media against AFI.

Hima scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win gold at world level. Eighteen-year-old Assamese girl Hima Das made India proud by clinching gold in women's 400m final race in the IAAF world cup Under-20 Athletics Championship in Finland on Thursday. She is the daughter of a farmer from Assam. UNI
