First time in his life, top-seeded Roger Federer has been crashed out of the Wimbledon in the quarterfinals against eighth seeded Kevin Anderson.
In a hard fought, two hour-long five-set match, the final victory was with Anderson 2-6, 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-4, 13-11. It was a surprising letdown from a player like Federer who won Wimbledon title eight times.
On Friday, Anderson will face No.9 John Isner, the 33-year old American who reached his first major semifinal. Anderson, a South African player, was a finalist at the 2017 US Open.
Meanwhile, in the women's singles, Serena Williams has reached Wimbledon final with 6-2,6-4 victory over Julia Goerges. In Saturday's final, Serena will face Germany's Angelique Kerber. Kerber beat Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko 6-3,6-3 in the other semifinal.
