Defending champion and star India shuttler PV Sindhu advanced to the semi-finals of the ongoing India Open badminton tournament while men shuttlers B Sai Praneeth and Parupalli Kashyap bowed out of the tourney after suffering defeats in the quarters.

Rio Olympic silver medalist Sindhu registered a 21-12, 19-21, 21-11 win over Spain's Beatriz Corrales to enter the final four. However there was bad news for Indian fans from the mens category as Kashyap suffered a 16-21 18-21 defeat against chinese Qiao Bin in a 42-mintue long game.

Moreover, third-seed Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei proved to be too good for Praneeth as he knocked down the Indian shuttler 21-15, 21-13 in 43-minute issue.
Chen will now take on Qiao Bin in the semi-finals of the tournament.
