Looking to secure a berth in the semi-final, Kerala Blasters got its much-needed victory goal from its forward C.K. Vineeth during the last minute of the ISL match against FC Pune City. As the Kerala Blasters could trounce (2-1) the best team of the ISL, the hope in the upcoming matches is high.
The head coach of Kerala Blasters David James was full of praise for the stunning strike that clinched a dramatic win for the Kerala Blasters against Pune City.
David James heaped praise on CK Vineeth and Jackichand Singh for the goals they scored against Pune City in the team's 2-1 win on Friday.
Jackichand opened the scoring in the 58th minute with an excellent goal from outside the box. Jackichand Singh was utilising the beautiful pass from Icelander Gudyon Balwinson.
But Emiliano Alfaro scored from the spot to bring Pune level to push the match to a nail-biting end. But then during the last minute, CK Vineeth scored a spectacular goal in added time to clinch three valuable points for Blasters.
"CK Vineeth's goal is special. It was what we needed to beat a very good Pune City side," praised James.
Now Kerala Blasters need to win all the upcoming matches to keep their chances for a semifinal berth. Next game on February 8 with Atletico De Kolkata(ATK) will be a more tough battle for Kerala Blasters as their key defender Sandesh Jhingan has to sit outside. During the match with Pune City, he got a yellow card for the fourth time.
