Gangtok , Apr 12 : An estimated 78.19 per cent turnout was recorded in yesterday's single phase election to the lone parliamentary and 32 Assembly seats in the tiny Himalayan state of Sikkim.
Polling ended at 11 pm. This year's polling is less than the last one held in 2014. 80.80 per cent votes were polled in the last elections. Of the 78.19 per cent votes polled, male accounts for 78.55 per cent and females for 77.81 per cent.
West District recorded 81.64 per cent votes. Male stands for 82.24 and females for 81.03 per cent. In South district 78.07 per cent votes were polled including 79.11 per cent males and 77.01 per cent females
The East district recorded 75.60 per cent votes, including 75.67 per cent males and 75.53 per cent females.
In North 81.74 per cent votes were polled including 81.51 per cent males and 81.95 per cent females.. Sangha recorded 68.05 per cent votes,where 68.18 per cent males and 62.32 per cent females exercised their franchise. Polling ended at 11 pm last night.
