Gangtok,Feb 10: Spokesperson of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha(SKM) Jacob Khaling has stated that the state has been advancing towards conditions of Constitutional emergency.
He has attributed his apprehensions to Sikkim Democratic Front’s(SDF) spokesperson Bhim Dahal's comment that the Returning officer would decide if SKM president P.S. Golay could contest in the upcoming Assembly elections due to be held in April-May 2019.
Khaling alleged that SDF had almost admitted to losing if PS Golay contested in the elections. He further alleged that while KT Gyaltsen, who said Golay cannot take part in the assembly elections in a press release on February 2 last, misinterpreted the law, Bhim Dahal tried to rule out Golay's candidature, saying the validity of his candidature would be decided by the Returning Officer- District Collector.
Khaling said it seemed SDF would do away with Golay's candidature on table only utilising the bureaucrats.
The SDF spokesperson said the SKM been hatching a conspiracy as the IAS officer, who was DC South in 2014, has been transferred to South again this time. And, he would remain DC though he should have been placed as Additional Secretary.
"SDF is trying to prevent our President PS Golay from contesting the 2019 assembly elections The conspiracy has started since Friday. Public is requested to be aware and see that Constitutional emergency does not arise in Sikkim due to any conspiracy,"he said. (UNI)
