Jaipur, Jul 2: Monsoon is expected to arrive in the desert state in next two-to-three days, as per the India Meteorological Department.The condition is becoming favourable for the monsoon and within the next 72 hours, it is likely to hit the eastern parts of the state, IMD said in a statement on Tuesday.
Usually, it reaches the state on June 15 or later, but this year the Met department had forecast a fortnight's delay in its arrival.The weather office has forecast the possibility of heavy rain at one or two places till July 4, affecting Kota, Sirohi, Bhilwara, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand and Bundi.Till July 5, it has predicted strong winds with a speed of 30-40 km per hour at one or two places, thunder-bolt and lightning.
The weather vagaries are likely to affect Jaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Dausa, Kota, Jhunjhunu and Sikar.Pre-monsoon showers were recorded in Dungarpur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bundi, Jaisalmer, Kota, Sirohi, Bhilwara, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, and Jhunjhunu.
Water level in the state's dams increased by 1.5 per cent. (UNI)
