Pragya Thakur’s candidature should be cancelled: Pilot

Agency News

Jaipur, May 17 : Rajasthan Congress president and deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot on Friday said the Bharatiya Janata Party should cancel candidature of its Bhopal candidate Pragya Thakur for calling Nathuram Godse, the murderer of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, a patriot.

Addressing mediapersons here, Mr Pilot said it's shocking that even after 70 years of Independence, the Malegaon blast accused has called Godse a patriot.Though the BJP distanced itself from the remark, calling it the Sadhvi's personal opinion, it neither stopped her nor suspended her, he said.Since BJP has given ticket to such people, it's obvious that fingers would be raised on them.Ms Thakur even had the audacity to curse Hemant Karkare, who sacrificed his life for the nation.

He alleged that BJP activists damaged statue Vidyasagar's statue in West Bengal and it should be probed.Mr Pilot criticised the Election Commission, and said when conflict was between activists of All India Trinamool Congress and BJP, why the poll panel reduced the campaigning tenure in West Bengal when other parties are also in the fray.
He claimed that after completion on sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls, the BJP is lagging behind. The saffron party's graph has declined in the party-ruled states. The central government's policies show their arrogance.

The real self of BJP has emerged. The party is spreading canard in the name of nationalism. It has eaten up democratic institutions. BJP has lost base in the country. It's zero in South, Mr Pilot claimed.Congress president Rahul Gandhi is making all out efforts to unite all the non-BJP parties. It is not possible for any party to stop the National Democratic Alliance, therefore, non-BJP parties will unite, Mr Pilot added.
On Alwar gangrape case, he said the culprits will be brought to book soon.He claimed that the Congress will win all 25 seats. On change in syllabus of curriculum in the state, no politicisation has been done. UNI
