Jaipur, Dec 7: The opposition Congress on Friday lodged complaints to the Election Commission (EC) pertaining to the defunct or malfunctioning EVMs, attempts of booth capturing and threatening to the party workers or contestants by the ruling BJP leaders.
A party spokesman said here that a team of Congress leaders led by the AICC General Secretary and state unit incharge Avinash Pandey monitored the voting process through out the day and processed the feed back received from different parts.
The party has sent 460 complaints pertaining to EVM malfunctioning or other sorts of irregularities or violence, the spokesman said. 400 EVMs were either defunct or could not be operationalise in time.
Complaints were made against senior BJP leader and former Minister Devi Singh Bhati and sitting party MP Sukhbir Singh Jaunpuriya in connection with incidents of rigging or violence in their respective areas in Bikaner and Tonk districts respectively.
The party also complained about slow working by personnel, the spokesman said. (UNI)
