Bhilwara, Dec 1: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday sought votes for his party promising farmers for loan waiver and assuring youths of employment and bright prospects, if Congress comes in power after the assembly elections.
Addressing an election meeting here, which is also the textile hub of the state, Mr Gandhi said "Rajasthan and the country at a large is confronting with two worrisome problems, one is unemployment and second, the prevailing farm distress".
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje government in the state and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, failed totally in keeping their commitment to provide employment to jobless and relief to farmers.
Four youths in Rajasthan recently committed suicide for want of job, leaving behind a message for the PM and the state CM that stated 'they are dying because they were not given employment', the Congress leader said referring a recent case of mass suicide.
Moreover, the policies and actions by Mr Modi, like demonetisation, hazy implementation of GST, further harmed the economy and deprived lakhs of people of their jobs, he alleged.
Mr Gandhi also continued to rake up issues of alleged crony capitalism for favouring some corporate houses, waiving of their loans, alleged favour to industrialist Anil Ambani in the Rafale deal and fleeing of bank loan defaulters like diamond merchant Nirav Modi, liquor baron Vijay Mallya and cricked administrator Lalit Modi.
Earlier, Mr Gandhi participated in an interactive session with business community and professionals in Udaipur. (UNI)
