Agency News

Amritsar, Mar 22 : Senior BJP leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina on Sunday hailed the people’s positive response to the 'janata curfew' wherein the people in general stayed indoors and did not venture out today. The BJP leader said the act would go in long way to ward off the deadly corona virus, which is taking the whole country into its grip.

After praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the voluntary curfew, he also welcomed the lock down in Punjab by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today. ``This is a welcome step as the only way to protect the citizen from the virus’s spread is to check the crowding of the people and break the chain of human contacts,” he said.

In a statement here, Chhina said as the life span of the virus is about nine hours, so if it does not find the human body within this time it perishes on its own. He, however, appealed the state government to ensure the supply of the essential commodities so that the people are no panicked.

He also stressed that the public and private places should be sanitized entirely all over the state. He said the health and sanitation staff should initiate the process immediately on the warfooting. ``All the public offices, bus stands, railway stations, educational institutions, jail complexes, police stations, hospitals, public transport must be sanitized”, he said.
