Confirmed corona cases rise to 21 in Punjab

Chandigarh, Mar 22 : The number of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients rose to 21 in Punjab after samples of eight new patients were found positive on Sunday. According to an official media bulletin, one case of Amritsar has travelled from UK and reached at Delhi Airport. Two cases of SBS Nagar have come from Germany via Italy. Five more cases have been found positive from SBS Nagar and they all were in close contact of a positive case.

All 20 cases have been placed under isolation in Government hospitals and are stable. The bulletin said that close contacts of all these cases have been put under quarantine and surveillance. Their samples have also been taken and sent to designated labs for testing.

As many as 14 confirmed cases were reported from SBS Nagar district, four from SAS Nagar, two from Hoshiarpur and one from Amritsar district. Out of 203 samples, twenty one were found positive, 160 negative while reports of the remaining 22 were awaited. First death of a coronavirus patient in Punjab was reported from SBS Nagar. (UNI)
