Agency News

Moga, Feb 8 : The Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) have decided to hold three conferences in the month of February and a cadre conference at Hola Mohalla on March 9 to counter the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal). Announcing this at a press conference here on Saturday, SAD (Taksali) Secretary General Sewa Singh Sekhwan and Secretary Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad said that all these events are being organized with the cooperation of SAD-1920 and supporters of Dhindsas.

The first conference will be held at Tarn Taran on February 21 and both Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and his son Parminder Singh Dhindsa, SAD-1920 President Ravi Inder Singh, and SAD (Taksali) chief Ranjit Singh Brahmpura will address the conference. Dissidents of SAD (Badal) will also join and address the conference, they said.

The second conference will be held at Sangrur and its date is still to be announced. Similarly, the third conference will be held in Ropar district in the last week of February and its date and venue will be announced by SAD-1920 president Ravi Inder Singh, both Taksali leaders said. Pir Mohammad announced that Taksali’s cadre conference will also be held on eve of Hola Mohalla on March 9. Sekhwan was strongly critical of Akali Dal (Badal) president Sukhbir Singh Badal and said Sukhbir is an immature leader and due to his attitude and policies, the Taksali have parted ways with the SAD.

He also said that people will never forgive the SAD for pardoning Dera Sacha Sauda chief and also for sacrilege incidents. When questioned, both Sekhwan and Pir Mohammad were silent about the joining of Dhindsas with Taksalis. However, Sekhwan said Taksalis, Dhindsas and SAD-1920 will jointly contest the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections. (UNI)
