Chandigarh, Oct 29 : Newly elected Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali was administered oath of office by Punjab Assembly Sabha Speaker Rana K P Singh at a brief ceremony here on Tuesday.
Earlier, the newly elected legislator from Dakha Assembly constituency was felicitated by party leaders and legislators at the SAD office in the Vidhan Sabha. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ayali credited his win in the Dakha by-election to the record development work done by the SAD-BJP government under the leadership of Mr Parkash Singh Badal and Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal.
He said people recognized the fact that they had been ditched by other political parties, including the AAP, and made a clear cut decision to support the SAD-BJP combine against all odds. He said the win in the completely rural and ‘panthic’ seat which had a population of more than 40,000 NRIs had also made it clear that the people had made up their mind to vote the SAD-BJP government into power in 2022.
The newly elected MLA also announced that he would work to create Suvidha Centres to address the grievances of the people. ''We will also force the Congress government to fulfill the promises made to the people'', he added.
Several SAD leaders, including Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, N K Sharma, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal and Gurpartap Singh Wadala, legislators and family members of the newly elected MLA were also present on the occasion. Notably, Mr Ayali won the October 21 bypoll from Dakha assembly seat, which fell vacant following the resignation of former AAP leader and Supreme Court lawyer H S Phoolka from the state Assembly.
