Chandigarh, Sep 17 : Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Monday directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Land Ports Authority to ensure the completion of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor project by October 31, saying that she will be visiting the holy project next week, to review the work progress.
In a statement here, the Union Minister said the entire Guru Nanak Nam Leva Sangat was waiting for the completion of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor project with bated breath, as it would be a 'dream come true moment' for them cross the border and pay their obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib, the birthplace of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji.
''Keeping this in mind, no effort should be spared to complete the project in all aspects by the deadline,'' she said, adding that the Corridor would be a befitting tribute to the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.
Speaking about the Integrated Check Post (ICP) being set up for the pilgrims to cross the border for paying obeisance at Sri Kartarpur Sahib, Ms Badal said the Rs 400 crore ICP would reflect the culture and tradition of Punjab.
''I am pleased to share that the Passenger Terminal will have the artwork depicting life and teachings of Guru Sahib. Besides, we have decided to place various sculptures within the ICP complex,'' she added.
Divulging details further, the Union Minister said the integrated check post would have state-of-the-art facilities for the pilgrims. It has also been decided that the Central government would pay for various facilities like the police station and fire station, which were to be set up by the Punjab government, she added.(UNI)
