Chandigarh, Aug 24 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has severely criticised the state government’s decision to hike bus fares.
Reacting sharply to the proposed raise in the fares, party’s chief spokesperson Prof Baljinder Kaur and Rupinder Kaur Ruby (both MLAs) said the Capt Amarindar Singh's Government had decided to raise the bus fares under the mounting pressure of private transport mafia active in the State. This would burn a big hole in everyone’s pocket.
In a joint statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Saturday, Baljinder Kaur and Rupinder Kaur Ruby said the proposed step was to benefit the Badals indirectly, the top transport mafia lords in the State. The example were a dime a dozen, they said.
The AAP leaders further said the State Government had been trying to scuttle the probe into the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari and Behbal Kalan and taking a lenient view in a slew of other cases related to sand, drug, cable and transport mafias was reflective of the mutual bonhomie of the Captain-Badal duo. They said AAP had raised these issues in and outside the Assembly but nothing had come out except for slamming the Badals for their dubious role, again and again.(UNI)
