3 Kabaddi players nabbed with intoxicants

Phagwara, Jul 17 : Phillaur police have arrested three Kabaddi players involved in drugs peddling trade and recovered huge quantity of intoxicants, including 1.5 kg opium, 350 intoxicant injections and 3950 intoxicant tablets from their possession at three different places near Goraya on Tuesday evening.

Confirming it on Wednesday, Phillaur Deputy Superintendent of Police Davinder Singh Attri told UNI that the arrested players cum drugs peddlers have been identified as Sandeep Singh alias Kala, a resident of Awaan (Amritsar), Pargat Singh alias Vikki, a resident of Sofia (Amritsar) and Baljinder Singh, a resident of Uttarakhand.

The DSP said that all three arrested accused were playing for Dashmesh Kabaddi Club Amritsar. He said Sandeep was nabbed at a checkpoint near village Rurka-Khurd, Baljinder from near village Atta and Pargat along with 3950 intoxicant tablets from village Kamalpur Gate.

All the arrested accused were produced before Judicial Magistrate today who sent them in police remand for two days for further interrogation. (UNI)
