Jalandhar, Jun 16 : In a major breakthrough aimed at giving impetus to sporting activity in the district, the Burlton Park stadium would be developed into Multi-Purpose Sports Hub equipped with ultra modern facilities by pumping in an amount of Rs 250 crore under the Smart City Project.
Jitendra Jorwal, the Chief Executive Officer of the Smart City Project on Saturday said that besides cricket stadium the proposed hub would have Football stadium, swimming pool, multipurpose hall, Club, Sports mall, Skating rink, Jogging & cycling track, Shooting range and Hotel.
He said that the project was recently cleared by the City Level Advisory Forum (CLAF) headed by Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh in which MLAs Mr. Sushil Kumar Rinku, Rajinder Beri and Bawa Henry along with Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja were present. Mr. Jorwal said that the work on this ambitious project would start very soon after the completion of necessary formalities.
He said that Football Stadium would have adequate space for players, referee, cameramen and others. He said that the stadium would have capacity of 5000 permanent stands including VIP areas and reserved seats adding that it would also have support areas including queue areas, ticketing, waiting areas, administration area, player's recreation area and player’s lounge, cafeteria, mess and VIP lounge. Likewise, Mr Jorwal said that hub would also have an all weather swimming Pool with eight lanes, changing rooms, rest rooms and permanent stands for 200 persons.
The Chief Executive Officer also said that the proposed hub would also have a multi-purpose hall with standard six court Halls compatible for Basketball, Volley Ball, Badminton and Short Tennis, Table Tennis, Judo, Gymnasium, Five-a-Side Handball, Netball, Indoor Hockey and Dedicated Squash Court. Likewise, he said that Burlton Park would also have a Skating Rink.
Besides two floor of shopping area would have sports goods shops, meeting rooms and a hall, food court, kid's zone, indoor games, billiards, snooker and bowling alley. Similarly, he said that the sports hub would also house a shooting range with a covered area of 680 square meters, entrance lobby, office and storage area.
He said that the hub would also have a hotel and convention center with 100 rooms, business center, conference halls, banquet hall, health club and a spa besides a waiting lounge, restaurant and kitchen along with a bar and lounge. (UNI)
