Sidhu refuses to take charge of new post

The face-off between Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu and the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt.  Amarinder Singh, seems to have intensified with the former reportedly refusing to take charge of the Power and New and Renewable Energy Ministry that he had been allotted.

Mr. Sidhu might arrive in Delhi to take up the matter with the party high command, according to sources though it not clear if he will meet as Congress president, Mr.  Rahul Gandhi, whois  is in Wayanad.

On Thursday, Mr.  Sidhu was divested of the portfolios of Local Government and Tourism and Culture and given as charge of the Power Ministry.

Before the reshuffle, Mr.  Sidhu had launched a veiled attack on the Chief Minister and said that he was being singled out publicly for his ministry's alleged failure that led to Congress losses in urban areas.

The two have been at the loggerheads after Mr. Sidhu's visit to Pakistan during Mr. Imran Khan's swearing-in ceremony and during the Lok Sabha polls, Mr. Sidhu's wife, Mrs.  Navjot Kaur had accused the Chief Minister having an alleged role in her being denied a ticket from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat by the party high command.
