Chandigarh, Feb 20: MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday staged a walkout from the State Assembly on the whopping number of proclaimed offenders in the state, amid slogan-shouting.

Replying to a question raised by AAP Mansa MLA Nazar Singh Manshahia, Cabinet Minister Brahm Mahindra, on behalf of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, informed that the state police had declared 7353 proclaimed offenders in the state and the government had set up a PO cell under the supervision of senior level officers to nab them.

Expressing his bewilderment over the issue, Mr Manshahia demanded that the pictures of all proclaimed offenders be displayed on public platforms. Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema supported the AAP MLA, saying that criminals were enjoying political patronage.

To substantiate his point, he added that Budhlada Congress In-charge Ranjit Kaur Bhatti's driver-cum-personal assistant too had been declared a proclaimed offender, but no action had been taken against him.

Getting no satisfactory answer to their question, miffed AAP MLAs, including Aman Arora, Sarbjit Kaur Manuke, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Meet Hayer, Jagdev Singh Kamalu, Kanwar Sandhu, Jai Kishan Singh Rori and Pirmal Singh, staged a walkout. (UNI)
