Sri Muktsar Sahib, Nov 29: Punjab Agriculture department is all set for a special survey of those farmers who burnt their paddy stubble this year to know their compulsions, so that foolproof project could be planned for next year to achieve the zero stubble burning targets.

This was stated by the Agriculture and Farmer Welfare department officials during a meeting of District Agriculture production committee held here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner M K Aravind Kumar.

Addressing the meeting, the DC said that agriculture department had launched a campaign at mass level to aware the farmers about the ill effects of stubble burning.

“Government had provide huge subsidy to farmers so that they could purchase new machines required for stubble management with eco-friendly way as stubble burning was banned by National Green Tribunal,” he added.

Sharing the details, Mr Kumar said that in Sri Muktsar Sahib district 415 individual farmers had bought new machines this year. (UNI)
