Puducherry, Jun 9 : Five more persons were tested positive for the Coronavirus in the Union Territory on Tuesday. According to the COVID 19 status released by the Health department here, three persons were discharged from Government Medical College after they have recovered and the patients now being treated in hospitals stood at 77. Four positive cases were reported in the Puducherry region, while one in Mahe. The number of active cases in Puducherry region is 75 and two in Mahe region. Karaikal and Yanam regions of the UT were declared COVID-19 free.
After the three persons were discharged from the Government medical college, patients being treated there came down to 32. In Jipmer hospital, 40 persons are being treated, 2 in Mahe Government hospital, two people from Puducherry are being treated in Chennai and one in Salem of Tamil Nadu. So far 132 persons were infected by the virus and of which 55 people were treated and discharged leaving 77 patients being treated in hospitals. As many as 8472 sample tests of people were conducted and 8292 persons tested negative and the result of rest of the people are awaited. (UNI)
