Puducherry, Jun 1 : Puducherry beach was opened for public after a gap of 75 days, on Monday. The beach is one of the main entertainment for the people of Puducherry who used to come along with the family in the evening to spend time. Apart from this, a large number of people used to walk on the beach both in the morning and evening. Because of the Coronavirus lockdown, the beach was closed in March.
After the relaxation in the lockdown rules announced by the government, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Sunday announced that the beach and Bharathi park will be opened today. Barricades are still there at the beach and people are being asked to leave their vehicles at other places and go by walk. Many people who came to the beach for a walk this morning were seen wearing masks. Meanwhile, the Bharathi park is yet to be opened as the workers maintained that they are yet to get an order from the government in this regard. (UNI)
