Four more test positive for COVID-19 in UT

Puducherry, Jun 1 : Four more persons, including a couple were tested positive for Coronavirus in the Union Territory on Monday taking the total number of active cases to 50, Director of Medical Services Dr Mohan Kumar said.

Talking to news persons here, Dr Kumar said a person from Kuruman Bet in Puducherry, who was being treated at the Government Medical College, was discharged after testing negative for the second time bringing down the number of active cases at present to 49. A man and his wife from Kombakkam here, one person from Annai Teresa Nagar and a man from Puducherry residing in Chennai were tested positive for the virus, he said.

The DMS said there is all possibility of more persons getting affected by the virus because of further relaxations in the lockdown rules by the government. Hence, all should wear masks and maintain social distancing to avert much danger. People should compulsorily cover their nose with the mask, Dr Kumar said 50 percent of the people only are at present covering their mouth. (UNI)
