Puducherry, May 27 : Education Minister R Kamalakannan on Wednesday convened a high level meeting to discuss holding the University final year examinations for 2019-20 academic year and to chalk out an action plan for the 2020-21 academic year.
Talking to news persons later, Mr Kamalakannan said the decisions taken in the meeting will be conveyed to Chief Minister V Narayanasamy who is also the Chairperson of the State Disaster Management Authority to take a final decision. The Minister said during the lockdown, as many as 1060 teachers conducted online classes for 35,000 hours for government school students.
However, the facility was not available for all students and steps are being taken to teach the left out students through direct reaching or using alternate methods, he said.
Mr Kamalakannan said a decision on holding of examinations and commencement of the next academic year would be taken on the basis of the Central and State government’s decision on the lockdown and this will be announced by the Chief Minister.
Stating that Puducherry and Karaikal regions of the Union Territory are following Tamil Nadu Board of Education syllabus, the Minister said that the 10th standard final year examination will be as per the schedule announced by the TN government. MORE (UNI)
