Puducherry, May 22 : The total number of active Coronavirus cases in the Union territory rose to 19 with two more persons tested positive on Friday, Health minister Malladi Krishna Rao said on Friday. Talking to news persons here, Mr Rao said a 43-year-old woman from Periyakalapet here who returned from Chennai on May 18 developed fever and other symptoms of COVID-19.
She came to the government medical college and got tested and returned as she was not willing to stay in hospital. As the result came out positive, she was brought to the medical college here and admitted in the isolation ward. A 46-year-old woman hailing from Reddiyarpalayam in Puducherry and residing at Pondy bazaar in Chennai was tested positive and is being treated in Chennai. Since she is from here, she was included in the Puducherry census, Mr Rao said.
Presently there were 16 active cases in Puducherry region (including one person admitted to Kannur Medical College and hail from Puducherry) , one in Karaikal region and two in Mahe region. The patient admitted in Kannur Medical College in Kerala was included in Puducherry census. (UNI)
