Puducherry, May 20 : Four more persons tested positive for Coronavirus in the Union Territory on Wednesday taking the total number of active cases to 12, Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao said on Wednesday. Talking to news persons here, the Minister said, apart from this, five persons from Tamil Nadu tested positive for the virus were being treated at Jipmer.

He said a family of four from Kuwait reached Puducherry on Tuesday evening and the mother and a child were tested and the result came out positive. They were admitted to the Government Medical college. The father and another child of the family will be tested today and most probably the result would also come positive, he added. Another youth from Villianur by-pass here was also tested positive for the virus. Already six patients were there at the medical college and with the admission of three more, the number of the patients infected with COVID-19 in Puducherry region rose to nine. One person who came from Abu dhabi on May 17 went straight to the Mahe Government hospital and got him tested. He was found positive for the virus and admitted there.

The youth from Puducherry working in Kannur Airport who was tested positive was also included in Puducherry census and thus the number of cases in Mahe came to two. A lady returned from Dubai was under treatment at Karaikal after she was tested positive for Coronavirus, Mr Rao added. (UNI)
