No new COVID-19 positive cases reported in UT : Minister

Puducherry, May 18 : Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao on Monday said that no new Coronavirus positive cases were reported in the Union Territory and the active cases stood at 13 including five persons, from Tamil Nadu, undergoing treatment at Jipmer here. Talking to news persons, Mr Rao said that of the two persons tested positive in Karaikal region one patient was tested negative and the second test was taken on Sunday.

If the test report of that patient again came out negative today, he will be discharged from the hospital. All the five persons admitted to Jipmer were tested positive in the second test too and are being treated. He said as many as 5619 sample tests have been conducted on persons and of which the results of 5320 samples of people found negative and the results of the rest are awaited.

The UT is having 31202 PPE kits, 6516 N-95 masks.6,78,420 three layer masks and 1713 VTM (Viral Transport Media) in stock. The Cabinet meeting which began at 1200 hours will decide on the relaxations to be given for the lockdown rules here, he said, adding that the parks and stadiums will be opened from today to ensure people to walk as many diabetes patients are suffering now. People who come for morning walk should not come in groups and two or three should walk by maintaining social distancing. (UNI)
