Puducherry, May 18: Liquor shops in the Union Territory of Puducherry will start functioning from Tuesday, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said on Monday. Talking to news persons after a Cabinet meeting here, he said the shops will function from 7 AM to 7 PM. People coming to get liquor will have to wear masks and maintain social distancing, he said, adding that all other shops hitherto functioning from 6 AM to 5 PM will also remain opened till 7 PM from tomorrow. Police and Excise personnel will control the crowd coming to the liquor shops for the first two days, he added.
The government has given these relaxations while the lockdown continue to remain till May 31 as per the guidelines of the Central Government, Narayanasamy said. The Chief Minister said the buses operating within the limits of Puducherry will operate with passengers maintaining social distancing.
Two persons only will be allowed to travel in an autorickshaw while four in a four-wheeler. Taxis within Puducherry could operate from tomorrow, he said. (UNI)
