Puducherry, May 15 : Taking inspiration from the Rashtrapati Bhavan's step to reduce expenditure to support self-reliant India Movement, Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday advised all the departments here to follow the example of the Presidential House and cut down expenses. "Expenses in the current year need to be focussed on essentials such as salaries, pensions, health and education, free rice for the poor, etc. only," her message read. All departments were already alerted and Raj Nivas will completely follow strict control over all its outgoing expenses, she said.
She said that she had declined the purchase of a new car for the Puducherry House a few months ago. Ms Bedi is also donating one-third of her salary to the PM CARE fund. Expressing happiness that the president had set the right example for the whole country, the Lieutenant Governor said that she hopes that the step shall help meet several challenges collectively.
