Anbazhagan threatens govt to picket Chief Secretariat with cleaning workers

Agency News

Puducherry, May 13 : Taking exception to the failure of the government to disburse the salary of the cleaning workers of the Local Administration Department for the month of April yet, AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan on Wednesday threatened that the party will mobilize the cleaning workers and picket the Chief Secretariat if the salary was not disbursed in a couple of days. Talking to news persons here, Mr Anbazhagan said the government had spent Rs 145 crore to disburse salary to the government employees and what hindered Chief Minister V Narayanasamy to allot Rs 3 crore towards the salary of the cleaning workers.

This is an ‘inhuman’ attitude, he charged. He also criticized Mr Narayanasamy for not inviting the legislators for the Disaster Management Authority Meeting here. Opposing the imposition of 12 hours work for the labourers, Mr Anbazhagan said that this is an act of depriving the rights of the workers. He recalled that the 8 hour work was secured by them after much struggle. This will only help industrialists, he said and demanded that two shifts be introduced in the industries. He also ridiculed Mr Narayanasamy for issuing the notification in this regard when former Congress President Rahul Gandhi opposed it. (UNI)
