Puducherry, May 12 : Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday staged a dharna at 50 centers in Puducherry and Karaikal regions of the Union Territory to press their demands. They were urging the Union Government to release funds to the UT to fight Coronavirus pandemic.
Their other demands included the supply of rice and dal announced by the government through ration shops, revival of PDS here and provision of Rs 5,500 to all card holders towards COVID19 relief. The volunteers maintained social distancing and shouted slogans in support of their demands by holding placards, CPI State secretary Saleem said in a statement here. (UNI)
