Puducherry, May 7: Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Thursday said that the administration is yet to take a decision on opening of the liquor shops in the Union Territory. He said the government needed to protect the lives of the people, but at the same time generate revenue. Hence, an appropriate decision would be taken in a cabinet meeting after consulting all sections, he added. Liquor shops were opened in several states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, he said.
Narayanasamy said that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to grant powers to the state to classify corona-affected areas into red, orange and green zones, since, the state government alone knew the situation in each areas and the decision taken by some Central Government officers could not be accepted.(UNI)
