One new COVID-19 case from TN admitted in Puducherry: Minister

Puducherry, May 7 : Puducherry Health minister Malladi Krishna Rao on Thursday said that a new coronavirus case from Tamilnadu was admitted to the government Medical college here. Talking to newspersons, the minister said a youth from Villippuram of Tamilnadu working in Koyambedu market was stranded in Chennai during the lockdown and he came to Villippuram during the relaxation on May 3. He stayed in a hotel with his five friends and later came to Puducherry to see his mother who is working in Jipmer hospital here.

The youth felt sick and went to Jipmer when he was asked to remain in home quarantine as he do not have any COVID symptoms. However, he came to the Government Medical College and get himself tested and found that he is positive for the virus.The health authorities in Tamil Nadu were alerted to trace his contacts mostly in Chennai.

Mr.Rao said though, he or his family is not connected in any way with Puducherry, the case will come in Puducherry list as he was admitted to the Medical college here. He said presently there are three positive cases in Puducherry and two of them were tested negative. The third person will be tested tomorrow and by Saturday all the three may be discharged from hospital he added. (UNI)
