Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Sunday night announced after a cabinet meeting that all the shops and industries could open from today.
The main Nehru street was also seen crowded with people by not following social distancing, though wearing masks. Initially, police prevented the Nehru street shopkeepers from opening their shops and asking for orders. They then showed the newspaper reports, following which police allowed them to open the shops. . The shops will be open from 6 AM to 5 PM. Again the shopkeepers found another hindrance as fruit vendors occupied the areas in front of their shops to put up their stalls as the government shifted them from the fruit market to avoid crowding and granted them permission to put up stalls on the Nehru street.
An altercation was there with the Nehru street traders and the fruit vendors. Police intervened and asked the fruit vendors to go back to their previous places as they could put stalls there from today and resolved the issue. Government offices also started full-fledged functioning. (UNI)
