No new COVID-19 case in Pondy: Collector

Puducherry, Apr 12: No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Union Territory on Sunday and the number of active cases stood at six, district collector T Arun said here.

In the media bulletin issued here this evening, Mr Arun said while nine new suspected cases admitted for testing to the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, the exclusive COVID-19 hospital here on Sunday, 17 suspected cases are found negative and discharged, today 12 patients are presently there in the suspect ward. In total 18 patients are in isolation ward, he added.

So far, Puducherry Police has registered 1906 cases for violation in all four regions and 11,522 vehicles were seized and 820 persons have been arrested. 76 people have been indicted for violating the lockdown, 27 persons have been arrested. 631 vehicles were seized, today alone,he added. Puducherry Tamilians living in France have contacted the District Collector of Puducherry to assist the Puducherry Government and the Puducherry people for the next two days and have said that they will bear for the cost of food.
