Puducherry, Apr 11 : Alleging that liquor is being sold in black market by licenced bar owners in the Union Territory, AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan on Saturday urged the government to trace and cancel the licence of such bar owners.
In a memorandum submitted to Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, Mr Anbazahgan said inspite of the lockdown to contain the spread of Coronavirus, black market liquor sale is on in Puducherry.
He said the licenced wholesalers and retailers were indulged in the black market sale of liquor where they sell liquor more than a double price of a case.
The government should take steps to check the godowns of such bar owners and verify the stocks. The licence of the bar owners be cancelled if the stock was found less than that at the time of the lockdown, he said.
Mr Anbazhagan said several new persons have started manufacturing illicit liquor and selling it and urged the Lt.Governor and Chief Minister to order the District Collector and DGP to take an appropriate action on the issue.(UNI)
