Puducherry, Apr 8: Puducherry District Collector Dr T Arun on Wednesday said 20 people are in hospitals set up for COVID-19 pandemic here till date and five positive cases had been reported so far.
Four positive cases for Coronavirus were reported in Puducherry and one in Mahe region.
In a bulletin, Dr Arun said of the 5 persons tested positive, 2 of them besides seven suspected persons for the virus are being tested today.
He said three suspected persons are under observation and equal number of persons admitted with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) / influenza-like illness (ILI) through casualty. Eight persons were discharged after their tests reports found negative, he added.
Puducherry Police has so far registered 1,504 cases for violation of lockdown in all the four regions of UT and 8,129 vehicles were seized and 629 persons have been arrested.
About 30 people have been indicted for violating the lockdown, 27 persons have been arrested and 323 vehicles were seized as on today.
Seven members who had attended the Jamaat religious congregation in Delhi were tested negative from Karaikal district, quarantined at a facility and being shifted to home quarantine after completion period of 14 days. (UNI)
