Puducherry,Feb 2: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) here on Sunday started a massive signature campaign against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA),National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy inaugurated the campaign by putting his signature. Leaders and cadres of different secular parties partook in the function held at the pedestal of Kamaraj Statue here. Speaking on the occasion Mr Narayanasamy said that the BJP government was trying to divide the people and thereby making India a 'Hindu Rashtra' which would not materialise. He further said that the implementation of CAA would not be allowed here adding that a resolution against the CAA and condemning the BJP central government which brought the Act would be adopted in the special session of the territorial Assembly beginning here on February 12.
His government was ready to face any action taken by the Modi government on this issue, the CM added. Leaders and cadres of the congress, DMK, CPI, CPI(M), VCK, MDMK, Dravidar Kazhagam were among others who participated in the campaign. (UNI)
