Puducherry, Dec 31: The Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) on Tuesday urged Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi to prevent the move of the government to bring in Casinos in the Union territory.
BJP State President V Saminathan in a statement said that a memorandum in this regard was submitted to the Lt.Governor on behalf of the BJP and some Social Organizations. He said Puducherry is a spiritual land where saints and Yogis lived and without knowing this Chief Minister V Narayanasamy is trying to bring in Casinos here.
Already violence and murders are taking place in Puducherry under the influence of liquor and Ganja and it is a place with most young widows live due to the liquor menace, Mr Saminathan said, adding that Casino will spoil the future and livelihood of youths and it will be a threat to the safety of women.
