Puducherry, Dec 1: Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Sunday said that he would soon file a contempt of court petition against Lt Governor Kiran Bedi as she continues to intervene into the day to day affairs of the government violating the Madras High court order given on April 30 this year.
Speaking to media here, Mr Narayansamy listed out several instances pointing out the intervention of the Lt Governor and said she has even intervened into the appointment of the State Election Commissioner (SEC). He said the SEC was appointed after a cabinet decision. However, questioning this, the Lt Governor had written to the union Home Ministry and this is delaying the holding of local body elections, though, the government started the process by publishing the final list.
He said the central government is delaying the Rs 400 crore due to the UT towards GST compensation and added that he participated in a video conference of the GST council yesterday and stressed for the immediate disbursement of the amount.
He said Puducherry do not have any scope of collecting taxes other than commercial tax,excise and transport while, the administration has to pay off Rs 500 crore loan from open market obtained by the previous N R Congress government by December 5. "A sum of Rs 300 crore has been paid in the month of March this year," he added. (UNI)
