Puducherry, Nov 15 : Lok Sabha member from Puducherry V Vaithilingam on Friday said that steps would be taken to construct a new Homeopathy hospital here.
Talking to news persons after visiting the Homeopathy hospital at Mangalakshmi Nagar here, Mr Vaithilingam said people are now-a-days leaning towards the Indian System of Medicine and about 150 patients are coming to the Homeopathy hospital here.
One third of the patients need treatment after admission. However, since the hospital is functioning in a small rented building, no one is being admitted, he added.
He said there was a demand from the people to construct a new Homeopathy hospital and the government has come forward to provide two acres of land at Odeampet.
Mr Vaithilingam said a letter from the Union government is needed to accept the land and the central government would be pressed to issue the letter forthwith.
Further, the Centre would be pressed to allocate funds for the construction of a 100-bedded hospital building, he added.
The Congress MP said that the setting up of the hospital would provide employment to 100 persons. (UNI)
